SURF Awards

Welcome to the Surf Action Website. This website provides a large amount of practical and educational information about trauma, recovery and good mental and physical health. Health is not the absence of disease. It is a quality of being that allows us to truly live, love, share and enjoy ourselves. It allows us to focus and have enough energy to function successfully in the world, but also to take stock and reflect on where we need to go next. It allows us to share, to communicate, and to be open when we need to be and closed when we feel vulnerable or tired. Surf Action promotes good mental health through personal development, education and employment and empowers its service users to lead healthy, fulfilled and independent lives and to become valued and active members of their community. Core to achieving this is the use of the blue gym concept and involving our service users in Ocean Therapy which includes surfing and other high intensity water-sports in the magnificent coastal environment around us. Read: The recovery model. The Surf Action Joined-Up Recovery Model recognises that the front line is not the only place where battles are fought and that partners, parents and children are also deeply affected by a loved-ones military experiences and often bear a heavy burden if injuries, be they physical or psychological, are sustained.

Written by Bryan Dickerson September 24, Share Tweet Share Email. This week the Surf X Inland Surfing project debuted to the world, shaking up the middle part of England and the European wave pool sphere simultaneously. This project splits from the current Wavegarden Cove craze that is populating the globe 30 projects planned to date and banks its future on the Surf Lakes technology — that giant plunger in the Australian scrub endorsed by Occy, Barton and crew.

The site will include a acre wave pool facility with skateparks, event spaces, food, beverage outlets, accommodation, shops, MMA, BMX track and more. This new generation facility provides authentic surf-experiences for all ages and abilities. The project plans to use Surf Lakes technology which works with a central plunger that pushes out a wave in degrees visualise a stone dropped in a pond.

The waves fan out and meet custom-built bathymetry to produce peaks, slabs beach breaks and a variety of other types of breaks. The town of Bournemouth, at the south end of England is planning on a Surf Lakes facility as well. Other English towns dancing with wave pool developments in various stages include Birmingham, London and Bristol. No ground breaking date or completed by dates have been given.
